1 Outfit 2 Ways: All Black

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Whenever I wear an all black outfit, I feel really put together.  I have always loved the monochromatic look!  For today's post, I put together a casual look, and a super relaxed look with essentially the same outfit!

For the casual outfit, I chose some wedge booties, and a cheetah scarf to add a pop of color! (cheetah is a color, yes?)

jeans: kohls
shirt: cotton on
shoes: forever young
necklaces: forever 21
bag: jessica simpson

For the second look, I threw together something that is really relaxed and comfy!  I have seen a lot of outfits with the shirt tied around and thought to myself "that's not my normal style, I don't know if I could pull it off".  I hate, HATE when people say that.  Any time someone says that, I'm like just wear it! If you love it, wear it, then you're pulling it off.  So I took a piece of my own advice and wore it!  And I loved it. It felt really relaxed and fun!

 They're cat shoes. YES!

jeans: kohls
shirt: cotton on
chambray: charlotte russe
shoes: forever young
necklaces: forever 21

This was a really fun post for me because I tend to get bored of my clothes and want to by more and more and more! So this was a fun way for me to use some of the pieces I already have to create two different looks!

Rainy Day Dress

Thursday, May 8, 2014

I'm loving the rain we've been getting here in Utah!  I love rainy days!  Plus it gives me an excuse to wear my favorite combat boots again before it gets too hot!

 Dress: Cotton On
Scarf: Charming Charlie
Boots: Forever Young

When I started my hair, I had a totally different idea of how it was going to look haha!  But once it was finished, I ended up with this big loopy twirly undone bun that isn't a bun.  So I was good with that!  (Is it just me or does hair REFUSE to do what you want it to!?)

Sigma Brush Cleaning Glove Dupe!

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

So, I saw this Sigma brush cleaning glove on Pinterest, and thought HOW AMAZING!!!  However, I'm cheap. (Shamelessly cheap, obviously!)  So I was not ready to fork out 35.00 for a fancified rubber oven mitt, ya feel me?!  So I hopped back on Pinterest and searched for a dupe!  And sure enough there were a few DIY versions!  This might be the greatest and easiest project I've ever done!

All you need is a plastic clip board, and a hot glue gun!  Some of the tutorials I saw used a full sized clip board, I chose a mini size one for easier storage!

All you have to do is fire up your glue gun and create small to medium bumps and grooves.  Clearly, they don't have to be perfect, just go for it. Small bumps for your eyeshadow brushes, larger bumps and squiggles for your larger brushes!

I like to use Johnson's baby shampoo to clean my brushes.  It's oil free, and not harsh on your brushes!
Place your cleaning board in your sink and let water run over it. Squirt some soap onto the board.

Rub your brush around until it's nice and soapy!  I suggest doing a few brushes at a time, get them all soaped up and then let water run over the board and continue to work out the make up and extra soap. That way you don't have to keep adding more and more soap for each brush.

You will be absolutely shocked by how much make up your brushes really hold!! Keep scrubbing your brush around until the water runs clear.  Be fairly gentle so you don't pull out any brush hairs.

Once your seeing clear water from your brush, use the space between your thumb and pointer finger to squeeze out extra water, and shape your brush.

Lay your brushes flat on a towel to dry,  I like mine to dry over night!

Good as new!!!!

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial!  I am so excited that I found a quick, easy way to get my brushes nice and clean!

popchips

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Today's post is sponsored by popchips, but all my opinions on this delicious snack are my own!

If you follow my blog frequently, you may know that my husband and I have been trying to eat healthier!  So far it's been going well, but I get bored of eating the same thing over and over, so I'm always looking for new meal and snack ideas.  So this Pop Chips sponsorship came along at the perfect time!  I've never had popchips before, and when I tried them,  it was LOVE AT FIRST BITE.  They're so light and delicious! With all the flavor of chips without the guilt. Let's get real, carrots or an apple just aren't gonna cut it when you're craving a salty snack! popchips satisfies that craving, and they're way healthier than regular potato chips!

Help me out by following this link to share your popchips love story, everyone who participates will receive a $.55 off coupon and a chance win a date night package! ($500 & 3 cases of popchips)

popchips is a great snack for while you're working or studying (haha "work", that's pinterest!)

We tried the BBQ, Sour Cream and Onion, and Sour Cream and Cheddar flavors.  Sour Cream and Cheddar were my favorite!  But they were all totally addictive and yummy!
