Today's post is all about saving your summer make up! I've been on the hunt and trying a bunch of different products! Here are my favorite face saving products!
Primers: I've tried both the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser, and the Elf Mineral Face Primer. I love them both! They have the exact same consistency, and are close to the same price. This is a great product if you have a hard time getting foundation to stay put. If you have one or the other, no need to buy the second one, because they are the same! I like the Elf brand primer a little more because it has a pump top, rather than the squeeze tube. These are both great dupes for the Smashbox face primer, and the Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional!
Setting Powder: I was hesitant to try this product because I wasn't sure that it would really do much. I was proven wrong. I LOVE this stuff. It's so great to put in your t-zone and under your eyes to prevent creasing. I tend to get a little oily on my nose, forehead and chin; this Elf powder keeps the oily-ness to a minimum! It's a great dupe for the Makeup Forever HD setting powder.
A tip: it says it's translucent, but it makes your foundation look a tiny bit lighter. If you have tan to dark skin, this might not be the product for you. But if you're fair skinned like me, I highly recommend it!
Setting Sprays: I've seen a TON of people talking about the Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray and I was really excited to try it. However, I didn't really want to spend the 30+ dollars on it. Then I saw this travel size at Sephora, and decided to give it a shot! I absolutely love it! It really helps make your makeup stay put on these hot sunny days. I always hated wearing liquid foundation in the summer, because I felt like it melted off my face, but the setting spray kept that from happening! I wanted to try the Elf brand setting spray to see how it worked! I'm so glad I did! It works just as well as the Urban Decay brand, but it only costs 3 dollars! The only difference it that the Urban Decay brand comes out more misty, and the Elf brand feels a little wetter when you put it on. But once it dries, it lasts the same amount of time! Plus for the great price, it's totally worth it!
A tip: Spray the setting spray BEFORE you put on your mascara (I learned the hard way that it makes your mascara wet and clumpy. yuck.)
I hope you found this post helpful!! Obviously, you don't need to use all three of these products every day. If I had to pick a favorite for my skin type, I'd choose the Elf Setting Spray. It's the cheapest of the products I mentioned, and it keeps your make up where it should be!
