First Day+A Puffer Vest

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

HYesterday was my first day at my new job!  It went great!  So far I like my new job, plus we have an office cat!  How awesome is that?!
I can't believe it's already Christmas Eve!  I love this time of year because we get to spend so much time with family.  Last night we went to Gavin's parents house and had dinner and watched the musical Scrooge.  It's been a tradition in their family for a long time, and I'm glad I get to be part of it!  If you've never seen Scrooge, you should, it's wonderful!  It's a new tradition to me, and I hope we keep it going for a long time!
My outfit for the first day at my new job:  cute puffer vest, and this warm sweater!  I LOVE these vests.

High Five for Friday!

Friday, December 20, 2013

Hello all! IT'S FRIDAY!  And next week is Christmas!  I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by!  I've had a great week, but am really looking forward to my weekend plans and next week! Linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday!

1. I finished and shipped out some orders for Sweet September!  I love being able to share something I love doing!  It's a joy to make things to ship out to people! :)

2. One of our vendors sent us this huge box of chocolates.  It gets to live on my desk, which means a constant, chocolaty temptation.  Don't worry, I'm sharing with the office!

3. I'm starting a new job on Monday!  Which means today is my last day at my current job.  I've had the opportunity to work with such nice people, and I'm going to miss everyone!  But I am really excited for a new adventure!

4.  Hilary and I added some new items to Sweet September, these adorable Sweet Minis!  AND! They are going to be featured on GroopDealz this Sunday-Tuesday!  We are so excited!

5.   I get to spend the day with my Mama tomorrow!  Last minute Christmas shopping and going to see Frozen! (Finally!)

6.  This week is going to be a "High Six" haha!  My cute friend Ashley is doing a FABULOUS blog design giveaway!  (How glorious would that be!?)  She can help you customize your blog, and make it yours!  I could really use some help in that department!  Go enter!

I hope everyone has had a great week!  I'm so excited for the holiday fun next week!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope your Christmas season has been magical :)

No More "Fat Talk"

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

A few of my friends on Facebook shared this video today, and I absolutely LOVE it. #feelinginspired

It's so easy to call ourselves fat and other unkind things. I'm guilty of it, we are all guilty of it, and if you aren't guilty of this, teach me to be like you.  In a world where we are constantly bombarded by pictures/videos/commercials ect. of "perfection", it's almost impossible to stay away from "fat talk" as they call it in the video.  The pictures of touched up models that show us from a young age what we are "supposed to look like" are harmful.  It gives an unrealistic idea of how we should look, and striving to look like those pictures will only set us up for failure. Because guess what? Not even the people in those pictures really look like that.

As the year comes to a close, I'm beginning to think of some resolutions for the new year.  A big one on my list is to get away from "fat talk", and putting myself down.  Imagine looking at your best friend or sister and saying "Wow. You look like a cow."  While most of us would never say something like that to a friend, (I hope no one really would say that to a friend haha) we EASILY say things like this to ourselves all. the. time.  So here's a rule we should all implant into our brains: if you wouldn't say it to your best friend, or sister or someone you love and respect, you should NEVER say it to yourself.  No more fat talk.

Thursday Thankfuls

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Hello to you wonderful blog readers :)

Today I am feeling very thankful and humbled.  The past couple of weeks have been causing me a lot of stress and anxiety.  Yesterday I asked my sweet husband to give me a priesthood blessing.  After the blessing, I felt the comfort I had been searching for.  Waking up today, I feel refreshed and extremely grateful for the things I have.

First and foremost, I am thankful for a merciful God.  I know that he hears every prayer we say, and the ones we just carry in our hearts.  He feels what we feel, and knows what we are going through.  He knows all of our anxieties and our doubts, even if we don't voice them out loud.  He sees all the tears we cry, and is there with us during our hardest days.  He never leaves us, and will never abandon us.  He is there at all times, even if we cannot feel Him.  I've learned over the years that if I feel like I'm alone, it's usually because I'm being too stubborn to feel the comfort that comes through prayer.  I sometimes need a reminder to take a break from all the busy moments in life, and just be still.  In those moments, I can feel my Heavenly Father comforting me.  I have a testimony that if you are doubting anything, you have to let Him in, with real intent.  God wants to hear from us, even when we feel unimportant.  If it's important to us, it's important to Him.  Don't ever forget that!!! :)

I am also very thankful for my sweet husband, and his support in everything that I do!  I'm thankful for a wonderful family that makes me feel loved.  I'm thankful that I'm able to express myself through my blog, that I have somewhere to share the things I care about!  And I'm thankful for you, reader, for showing your support :)

Decorating Our Small Apartment for Christmas

Monday, December 9, 2013

This is our first Christmas as a married couple!  Which means our first Christmas decorations!  There isn't much room in our apartment, so we had to go small!  I love all of our decorations!  One of my favorite things about Christmas time is the beautiful decorations.  Coming home and turning on the Christmas tree makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!  I like to enjoy the Christmas decorations as long as possible!!
Our first Christmas tree, perfect size for our small apartment!

Red, green and gold ornaments

I love these decorations on our book shelf.  The lyrics to silver bells gets me in
the Christmas spirit every time I read them!

First Christmas pictures :)
I can't hang the stocking "by the mantle with care" but I sure can
command hook them under the counter :)

Love this cute little snow-guy

Yummy candy cane kisses in this adorable bird bowl my momma
gave me! (just put them in today, they'll be all gone in no time!)
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautifully decorated time of year!  Show me how you've decorated your small spaces this holiday season!  Leave a link in the comments!  :)

New Earrings on Sweet September!

Thursday, December 5, 2013

I love these earrings that we just put on Sweet September! We have 3 prints right now, but are planning on adding a LOT more!  These earrings are lightweight and easy to wear. (I'm wearing the cheetah print ones today in honor of adding them to Etsy!)  They are about the size of a dime.  I love pretty, little, stud earrings!  I used to always wear big dangly earrings, but lately I've been buying smaller, simpler ones.  They are a great addition to any outfit, I especially love wearing them with a cute braid or a top knot!  These earrings are only $8.00! They are made to order, and ship out the day after you place your order!  Click the picture link to order, or follow this link to view other products on Sweet September!

Cheetah Print Stud Earrings
These cheetah print (or leopard, if you prefer!) are my favorite!

I just wanted to take a second and say thanks to everyone that has shown support as we have started our Etsy shop!  All of your kind words and support mean so much to me!! Thank you thank you thank you!

Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Have you ever had those delicious mini cookies from Mrs. Fields??  When I worked at the mall, I got a discount at Mrs. Fields.  Dangerous.  Which meant I ate about a million (small exaggeration) of those yummy mini cookies during the time I worked at Forever Young Shoes.  Mini chocolate chip cookies just help you cope with a busy, stressful day. Am I right!?  I found this recipe for mini chocolate chip cookies and decided to try it out!  They turned out great!  Plus they are so cute and tiny!  Which means you can eat more of them, because they're small!

This recipe makes a TON of mini cookies, perfect for a holiday party, or neighbor gifts!  You can also freeze the dough and make it later :) enjoy!

Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 stick softened butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cake flour--can be found at Target :)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
mini chocolate chips

Mix together the flours, salt and baking soda.  In a separate bowl, mix together the butter and sugars.  Add the egg and the vanilla, mix until combined.  Slowly mix in the dry ingredients.  Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Refrigerate the dough until firm.
Scoop dough by 1/2 teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 for 5-8 minutes. (I liked mine at 5 minutes so they are nice and chewy!)

Here are a few of my favorite pictures with my sweetheart!

I'm so happy the holiday season has officially begun!  My favorite thing about Christmas time is spending time with my wonderful family.  I also LOVE the decorations and the yummy food we get to eat all season!  But most importantly, I'm glad we have a special time of year to celebrate the birth of Christ.
