"because you deserve so much more"

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

every day, i become more and more grateful that my heavenly father can see the big picture. i become more and more grateful that he has closed doors on things that, at the time, i thought i wanted. he has opened doors to things i've always needed, but didn't know that i wanted. while it felt like opportunities were being taken away, they were really being replaced with more wonderful opportunities to get me to where i need to be :) everyday, i get closer to the woman i want to become. everything WILL find its way!

i am so thankful for all my wonderful friends and family that stay by my side through the crazy ups and downs! this year has been full of changes, but with each one i become a stronger, happier person. :) i am so thankful that i have the church in my life, it brings me so much guidance and comfort.

life is headed in a good direction, and i am happier than i have been in a veeerrrryyy long time :) excited to see what else life has in store :)

i saw a quote once that said, enjoy life, it shouldn't be something you have to "get through" it's supposed to be fun i think that is so true. life is a journey, one to be celebrated. and i am going to make it my goal to find happiness and enjoy every moment. be a glass half full person :)

Great Grandma Stewart

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

So! Because my bestie Hilary is soooo awesome and is kicking major BUTT at blogging, I'm feeling inspired to start doing the same!! :)

Today's blog is dedicated to the memory of my sweet sweet Great Grandma Stewart.
A couple weeks ago, Grandma Stewart returned home to her Heavenly Father and her eternal companion. Grandma was 93 years old, and had a wonderful spirit and such a wonderful attitude! At her funeral, there were lots of broken hearts, but we will all remember the great memories we had with Grandma. Listening to everyone's memories helped me remember a lot of my own! It was good to see my family all together again, it's been a long time!

I am going to list all of my favorite memories of Grandma Stewart, family members will totally get all of these, people who aren't family members, prepare to have a love for a sweet lady you may not have known, but will feel like you do after reading these stories :) They're going to be super random, I'm just writing as I think of them! Enjoy :)

* My favorite memory of Grandma Stewart was listening to her tell how she met Grandpa! She told me he would walk by her house on his way home from work, and everyday she would make sure she would be outside getting water when he passed by. I know it was the best part of Grandpa's day. They loved each other so much, and I know they are so happy to be reunited.

*Grandma's house was always so much fun when I was a kid. She had all the best toys! Grandma had an orange car track that we would set up at the top of the basement stairs, it was long enough to reach all the way to the bottom. She had a bucket of toy cars we would send flying down to the bottom. I remember me and my friends would laugh so hard when the cars would fly under the basement door. Grandma always let us be loud and silly at her house!

*Grandma had a beautiful collection of dolls. Old or new, beautiful or broken, she loved them all! Grandma even learned how to make dolls and was very good at it! Grandma always let us play with the dolls, she never told us we were too little, or worried we would break them. She was eager to show them to anyone who wanted to see!

* I loved having sleepovers at Grandma's house, she would let me build a fort out of card tables and blankets in the front room. She was never too tired to crawl down on the floor and play with us in our secret club house!

*Grandma always let me make a mess of the kitchen making crafts, necklaces and bracelets, painting, and cutting out pictures to make a collage. (something i STILL love to do because of Grandma!)

*Grandma would send us out in the back yard to pick delicious raspberries and pea pods!

*Another thing we loved to do with Grandma and Grandpa was go for rides "around the block" as they said, in the blue camper trailer! Lots of sleepovers and tea parties were held in the camper!

*As Grandma got older, she started to lose a lot of her memories. But we will always remember them. Last time I saw her, she didn't remember who we were, but she was as friendly as ever. She liked to tell us about things she could remember, like her crush on Grandpa, the first time she rode in an airplane, making her favorite fonny-mon-bockle cookies (if anyone knows how to spell that, let me know!)

Grandma Stewart was such a wonderful lady, and because of her, our family has 5 generations! She touched so many lives and was so great to so many people. I miss my sweet Grandma, and I look forward to meeting her again when she and my Grandpa are in their perfect state. I know we will see them again :)

I love you Grandma!!!

:) things i learned from moroni 10:

  • "deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to faith..": NEVER lose faith that he has a plan!
  • "deny not the gifts of God..there are different ways these gifts are administered..": we dont all get to have the same gifts, but he showers us with our own gifts and blessings in His timing :)
  • "if ye have faith ye can do all things which are expedient unto me.": you CAN do hard things! he will always provide a way for us to accomplish the things he asks us to do :)
  • "come unto Christ and be perfected in him".
I love t
feeling great today! happy sabbath :)

Enjoy Life :)

Isn't it weird how you wake up one day and everything you thought you'd have is not what you have?! But then you realize it's just because there are better things out there.. Heavenly Father gives us experiences to make us stronger. To test us. To help us see that we are better than what we thought, and that we deserve MORE. The hardest struggles are the ones that make us our very best. (Which is hard to keep in mind when you feel like you don't have a handle on it!) I may not have all the things I thought I wanted, but that's okay. Because there IS something better. I may not have found it quite yet, but I'm getting there.

When everything falls apart, I refuse to admit defeat. It's a chance for a totally fresh start. Which can be a really good thing. :) So here goes nothing. It's time for a change, it's time to take chances and not be scared! I CAN be anything I want, do anything I want, become anything I want. And with the Lord leading my footsteps, I know I will be okay. Sometimes you just have to put it in His hands and trust in His timing. He is the way to happiness, if we trust in Him.

I am so thankful for my amazing family and my best friends who never ever give up on me, even when I want to give up on myself. I am thankful for the two most amazing best friends, the people who let me complain and cry and freak out, and then calm me down and tell me I will figure it out. Life never goes exactly how I plan it to go, but I am learning to be happy with that. Because there is a bigger picture that only God can see. I am so thankful for the church in my life, I might not have everything figured out, but I know what I want. And that is the first step :) Everything WILL fall into place. Everything WILL be okay! :)

some important things i have learned:

sometimes in life, people let you down. but that doesnt mean that everyone will :) you just have to find the people who are going to stick by you and love you no matter what! im so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life, that keep pushing me forward. who are there to give me a smile or a hug or a nice text or bring me a diet coke or to listen to my pointless drama, i love you all :)

god has a plan for all of us, even when we dont clearly see it. if we had everything layed out for us, we would never grow. we cannot lose faith when we dont see it perfectly, and sometimes we have to look again and again, and again! before we find the right path. but when we finally do, everything will make sense and everything we went through to get us there will all be worth it.
we just cant give up on looking for it :)

we cant let the things that bum us out ruin the good things! even when you're sad, smile anyway. laugh anyway. sing anyway. dance anyway. keep moving forward :)

xoxo
